Great hotel with amazing staff and good food.

I stayed at this hotel due to doing my training for getting a guide dog. I spent Monday to Friday and then Tuesday to Friday the following week here. I will break the review down into sections to make it easy. Room I stayed in room 18 which overlooked the "secret garden" I'm unsure if this is used or not but its a nice little space. My room had a big bed which was two singles pushed together to form on huge, and i mean huge bed. I couldn't feel the gap in the middle like on some push together beds which was nice. The pillows were nice and plentiful and the mattress i would say was firm but very comfortable. The room contained a desk and chair incase you wanted to do any work and a decent size tv. The room really could have done with a comfy arm chair to sit in so you didn't always have to sit on the bed. Tea and coffee making facilities were in the room and there was plenty of lighting. The room also had a full size mirror which was part of a "wardrobe" to hang clothes etc Downsides to my room The only plug socket was on the wall opposite the bed, not great if you wanted to charge the phone at night. No drawers in the room for underwear etc The bath room was very dated, The taps didn't mix the water so washing hands was difficult as you would burn your left hand and your right would be cold. The bathroom had no steam extraction system so the bathroom was wet for hours after a shower. The shower did however get nice and hot and have great pressure. And shampoo etc is provided (obviously a plus) Room 4 out of 5 Food We ate in the restaurant every evening and managed to sample most if not all of the "S" included items which you can have in the room rate. I will add a few favourites however the menu did just change. Crispy squid starter was amazing If i am been honest i don't recall been served a bad meal or one i was unhappy with which is nice. The service on an evening was always friendly however sometimes was a little on the slow side. Breakfast Our server Nickie was amazing and a credit to the hotel. She couldn't do enough to help us with our various visual impairments. She made breakfast a stress-free and joyous part of the day of me and my 2 friends. The food at breakfast was very good, There is a massive range of food and drink available from full English to pastry's and continental meats etc. The flat white coffee was very good and set me up for the day Food and breakfast service 5/5 Staff Usually you come across one or two staff members who just don't seem to want to be there but in the nearly 2 weeks we spent there i didn't come across a single member of staff who wasn't friendly, polite and willing to help. The staff really are very good. Big shout out to the new guy who started on the bar last week, He seemed nervous but did a great job. 5/5 Grounds Yes this hotel is built close to a very busy road however on a night you don't really hear it all that much, You still see the wildlife. The hotel has lots of greenspace you can sit in and chill and there is plenty of parking Fitness centre We used the pool, hot tub and steamroom and they were all very pleasant, The gent on reception was happy to help and they give towels so you dont need a room towel with you. The pool was closed on one night in the second week due to a temperature issue but that was promptly getting fixed. This was free to use for paying guests. WIFI This was free to use and easy to connect to with no password, It performed better during the day then on a night were it was hit and miss. I managed to watch YouTube and livestreams between the WIFI and my mobile network which uses the 3 network. Cost This I cannot comment on but what i can say is this hotel is definitely nicer then the budget hotels and even some more expensive ones i have stayed in.

Breakfasts in particular a treat !

Friendly staff and amazing breakfast 😋 at this lovely hotel in peaceful surroundings. Nickie and staff were so helpful today and a superb hot, fresh, plentiful breakfast cooked by Katie. Reception staff were great and the late night bar tender too. A joy to find, keep up the good work ! 👏

Slightly disappointed by the location, as expected the hotel to be in a more rural setting, but we did actually have a room overlooking open countryside. Room was fine, though no frills, food was good quality, but what made it special was the attentiveness of staff, particularly Mert, at the bar, and Spencer in the restaurant. Both really helped my friend's birthday go with a zing!

We are located on the edge of Willerby a lovely village which itself is just outside of Hull so not rural but at the same time surrounded by farmland on one side and Waitrose and other shops on the other. Fortunately all our rooms overlook the fields and countryside and our gardens are surrounded by mature woodland which makes us a lovely haven from busy city life. Best wishes David

Stayed here for a night this week as had a meeting locally the following day. Booked fairly late notice into a twin room for sole use. Checked in around 7, greeted by a very friendly receptionist who noted that I had a twin booked and very kindly upgraded me into a double Privilege room. The room was in a really quiet location on the first floor, at the end of a corridor, and I found it to be very good. Decent space, comfortable bed, light and airy. Nice coffee machine, only thing I would say is desk and TV a little small but no great issue. Bathrooms are not new or modern but absolutely spotlessly clean. Didn't use the facilities aside from the restaurant for breakfast which was a pretty standard buffet done well. Staff extremely friendly across the hotel. Would definitely recommend if you need to be in the area!

I’ve stayed here a number of times over the last few years and gradually seen it decline. The staff are great, they’re the hotel’s saving grace and I’ve seen the same faces over the years so they must be a good team as they stay loyal. I arrived late, 22:30, but food wasn’t being served as the chef had gone home. I only wanted a sandwich but I couldn’t get one, even though they advertise 24 hour room service. The corridor (2nd floor) and room smelled musty, as though there had been a leak that hadn’t dried out. The bedroom and bathroom were clean, just very dated. TV is small, maybe only 24”, not sure how many channels as I only watched the news. The hotel is in desperate need of a facelift and it will put me off returning until it’s done.

Thank you for your review. I am so very sorry that your view of the hotel has deteriorated. We have had an issue on our second floor where a water heater has leaked and damaged our carpet. The boiler is being repaired this week and the carpet next . I am sorry for the damp smell as you leave the lift. We have most of the free view channels but as guest are more than ever choosing to watch their own streaming we are in the process of upgrading our Wi-Fi so when full all guests can stream their TV of choice. We have a wonderful loyal team and I am very sorry they did not offer you a sandwich and I will be speaking to our duty managers to unsure this is something we always offer Regards David
